Two Days Hands on Session on Remote Triggered (RT) Lab
For the benefit of the students from Govt. College of Engineering and Research Awasari a two days hands on session on “Remote Triggered (RT) Labs” was organized by College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) under the Virtual Lab project. The session includes understanding of plant dynamics, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA, implementation of PID algorithm in PLC & DCS and at last the control of actual plant through remote terminals. The structured outcome based laboratory session was planned and education expert from IIT Bombay participated in this workshop.
The hands on sessions were organized under the guidance Prof. S. D. Agashe, Dr. (Mrs.) S. S. Agashe, Mrs. N. P. Wagh, and a team from Virtual Lab project. 60 students from Instrumentation and Control Engineering stream participated in hands on session.
This session has motivated the students to develop their own control strategies to control pilot plants at COEP from remote places. Many students have indicated satisfaction and commented that; “RT labs will play major role for remotely located colleges” or “students will be immensely benefitted as you can control pilot plants from web that to using user developed control strategies”. The workshop was concluded with the declaration of results or pre and post- test. The faculty also conducted discussion on various other aspects of learning. The entire data generated through this exercise was shared with the student in soft form.
